Buddhist Cults and Cult-like Organizations

September 23rd, 2009 | 3 Comments

This article has been removed due to conflicts in which I do not want to promote on this website. There are too many smears going around in which it is a shame, because that is not what we were called to do on earth. I pray and hope everyone test and evaulate anything and do not take anything to face value.  If it is of good merit and pure hearted then follow and practice it. This website was created to teach, educate, encourage and uplift our brothers and sisters. I apologize for any upsetting that this article may have caused.

The comments made on this article about the NKT and Dorje Shugden are unfair. For the facts about Dorje Shugden and the Dalai Lama, please see

For responses to smears against the NKT such as those above, please see:

My intention when I posted this article was to steer my brothers and sisters away from any falsehood that is out there, but it is a difficult topic, because it is only fair to know both sides. I do not like promoting opinions or any smear, I enjoy promoting the Dharma, the Path, therefore I took down the article. I just want to tell everyone to be careful with following teachers or any teachings that seem strange. If it is pure, honest and promotes unity, follow and practice it. Test everything.

Hi, I appreciate that your intention is good and I don’t want to cause any upset myself, but I would say that we simply don’t know what is valid and what is not valid unless we have personal experience, and it’s dangerous to report hearsay and rumour, even if you trust the source. As Buddha said in the Kalama Sutra that you quoted:

Do not go upon what has been acquired by repeated hearing; nor upon tradition; nor upon rumour.

The internet is rife with damaging rumours which harm the reputation of authentic spiritual Teachers and traditions and the information quoted in the article regarding NKT was factually inaccurate. My own feeling is that we just need to focus on our own tradition and practice and do our best to improve ourself for the benefit of others.
