In the mind you receive two kinds of thoughts, one group of thoughts are from the True Self, which is your real self, the likeness of God, your Buddha Nature, your Christ Nature. And the other group of thoughts is from your False Self, which is the ego, the polluted nature that produces greed, lust, pride, hatred etc. As an awaken person, one who realizes and walks in the Spirit, one who is in tuned to the things of God, one who is sincerely walking the path of Truth, hears and reacts to the thoughts of the True Self.
True Self, will provoke things of love, kindness, comfort, peace etc. But the person who walks according to self-centered ideas and passions, he or she s listening and reacting to what the False Self says which provokes hatred, greed, impatience, lust, pride etc. The thoughts from the False Self are compared to a baseball stadium, in where you are batting up and waiting for the next pitch so you can hit the ball, but the people in the bleachers are yelling, booing, even cursing at you so that you lose concentration from swinging and hitting the ball. The people in the bleachers are the thoughts from your False Self.
Your False Self, will try to create ruckus, so you can listen and pay attention to its statements, which are all false. The False Self is also compared to the army of illusion or the people behind the gate. They are yelling statements to grab your attention, but you, the master need to block it out, and know your true nature, your True Self and concentrate and watch the ball as it comes so you can hit it.
Dhammapada – Choices Chapter 1
“We are what we think. All that we are arises with our thoughts.
With our thoughts we make the world.”
—
“Mistaking the false for the true
And the true for the false,
You overlook the heart
And fill yourself with desire.
See the false as false,
The true as true.
Look into your heart.
Follow your nature. (Your True Nature)”
Don’t believe those thoughts of despair, of confusion, of loneliness, of insecurity. Know your True Self, and your True Self is God within you, the Holy Spirit that leads you to all truth, to all that is of peace and love. You create your world by what you think about. The mind is like a bull that you need to grab by the horns and control. Cut out all the assumptions and speculations. If you act by what is true then true action will be performed, which powers up things and makes things work positively.
